Sevens is played with the standard 52-card deck and can be played with 2 to 6 players. All 52 cards are dealt to the players at the beginning of the game.
On each turn, the player tries to add one card from their hand to the board. A card can be added to the board if it is a 7 or if there is another card of the same suit already on the board that is one rank higher or one rank lower.
For example, if 7♥ and 8♥ are already on the board, then 6♥ or 9♥ can be added.
If none of the cards in their hand can be added to the board, the player must discard one card from their hand. This card is set aside and not revealed to other players until the end of the game. A player can only discard a card if none of their cards can be added to the board.
Each number card is worth its face value. Aces are 1 point each, Jacks 11 points each, Queens 12 points each, and Kings 13 points each.
At the end of the game, the values of each player's discarded cards are added up, and the player who gives up the least points wins. If a player wins with the score of 0 (i.e., they were able to play every card in their hand without discarding), they are said to have a perfect win.
However, a player can turn the tables and steal the win if they discard all their cards without adding any card to the board. In this case the player is said to have a turnaround win. If more than one player discard all their cards, the one who discards more points is the winner.
In case where more than one player tie for the best score, the win goes to the player who started earlier in the playing order.
